🧊 Speedcubing for beginners: How to find your first cube!

Are you finally ready to buy your first speedcube, but don't know where to start? Welcome to the club! When I started cubing years ago, I faced exactly the same questions: Which cube is good? What's important? And how much should I invest?

In this post, I'll show you what really matters—without jargon, but with real experience. ✌️

📦 What is a speedcube anyway?

A speed cube is the modern version of the classic Rubik's Cube—only much faster, quieter, and smoother. Most speed cubes are equipped with magnets for greater stability. They can also be customized to your personal preferences—for example, by adjusting the tension or elasticity.

🔍 What you should pay attention to when buying

  • Magnets: Almost all modern cubes have magnets. They help you rotate more precisely—very convenient, especially for beginners!
  • Stickerless or Stickered: Most cubes today come without stickers – this not only looks cleaner, but also lasts longer.
  • Brands: Proven manufacturers include GAN, MoYu, QiYi , and YJ . In my shop, you'll find only tested premium cubes.
  • Price: You can get good beginner cubes from me starting at around €10–15. If you want more performance, €20–30 is a great option.

💡 My recommendations for beginners

These models are great to start with:

  • MoYu RS3M 2021: Top value for money, magnetic, very popular with beginners and advanced players
  • GAN 356 ME V3: Premium version with great spinning feel and clever tension system
  • QiYi MS 3x3: Light, fast, magnetic – and very reasonably priced

🧠 Fun fact at the end:

Did you know that there are over 43 trillion ways to twist a 3x3 cube—but only one solution? And yet, speedcubers today solve the cube in under 5 seconds. Crazy, right? 😄

See you soon & keep cubing!
